Developmental editing is a collaborative process involving queries, in-depth analysis, guidance, and thorough feedback on the big picture of your manuscript.

A developmental edit aims to help make your manuscript interesting, appealing, engaging, and easy to follow. It helps you get your message across with proper flow, writing technique, and within acceptable genre conventions.

When you hire me for a development edit, I will become your partner. I will guide you through shaping your manuscript, setting your intention, and executing your vision.

My process involves:

• implementing genre-specific elements to your writing
• structuring your manuscript with clear storytelling elements
• assessing flow and reorganizing the manuscript to improve readability
• making suggestions for character and plot development
• asking questions to help you meet your potential readers’ expectations
• helping shape a point of view in your manuscript that is effective and consistent

As your editor, my developmental suggestions will bear your desired readers in mind. I will not be rewriting your manuscript, but I may make suggestions using sample writing and examples from other manuscripts from your intended genre. My goal is to help you create a manuscript that you are proud of and is successful in the marketplace.
